Handprint Refrigerator Magnets
Poster board or heavy paper
tempera paint

Paint your hand and print it onto a piece of heavier paper
When dry, cut around the fingers and thumb. 
You can write your name on it, or put a message to someone you love
Glue a magnet onto the back

Bird Food
Slice of bread

Cut the bread with a cookie cutter.
Put yarn or string through the top for hanging on tree
Spread the bread with peanut butter
Dip into bird seed or finely crushed up nuts

Snow Globe
A small plastic jar with lid
Turn the lid to the inside and glue any small toy you might like
Fill the jar with water and add some glitter.
When dry, place the lid on the jar and turn upside down.
Now shake, instant winter globe!

Snowman In A Box Kit
In a shoebox (decorated or not) place:

a small scarf,
an old hat
pair of old mittens
plastic or regular small carrot for the nose 
two large black buttons for eyes,
six smaller buttons for the mouth.
two small twigs for arms

And when it snows, you are all ready!!

Colored  Snow
Add food coloring to water and pour into empty spray bottles.
Make as many colors as you like
Go outside and spray figures in the snow. 

Icy Suncatchers
A pie tin
some string or shoelace
twigs, small pine cone, anything you find 

Loop the string and place inside tin, leaving the looped end outside the rim for hanging on the tree
Fill with water, sprinkle with twigs etc.
Let it stand outside until it is frozen.
When set, take it out of the pie tin, and hang it on a tree and watch the sun shine through it

2 pair mittens
Uncooked rice

Put one pair of mitten into the other.
Put uncooked rice in between the 2 layers

Put into the microwave, heat on high for 1 minute, go out and play!

Q-Tips 
Glue Q-Tips in place to look like a snowflake.
Remember, no two snowflakes look alike

A SNAKE  PAIN RELIEVER

YOU WILL NEED

AN OLD LONG SOCK

#2 UNCOOKED RICE
2 BUTTONS FOR EYES (NOT METAL!)
A PIECE OF RIBBON (OPTIONAL)
A SMALL PIECE OF RED FELT OR FABRIC
 

Fill the sock with the uncooked rice.
Sew the open end of sock closed (or glue)
Glue on 2 buttons for eyes
Cut red fabric for tongue, cut a "V" shape
for tongue
Glue onto end of sock for mouth
Tie ribbon around for neck.

THIS CAN BE PUT INTO THE MICROWAVE NO
MORE THAN 60 SECONDS FOR SOOTHING AWAY
ACHES AND PAIN

FOR WINTER FUN

A MITTEN BOOKMARK
Felt
Heavy paper/cardboard
Glue
spring hair clip

Draw around your hand with your fingers closed, thumb open.
Draw a design with white glue, and sprinkle with sparkles, or salt.  When the salt dries, it looks like crystal snow.

MACARONI SNOWFLAKES
On a piece of paper glue round wheel macaroni noodles (dry) in the shape of a star.
Spray with white or colored paint. 
 When dry, peel or cut off paper
and hang.
While wet, you can also sprinkle with sparkles

WINTER SNAKE DOORSTOP
Keep out the cold with this special snake.

An old calf length sock
buttons
piece of felt

Stuff the sock with newspaper, cotton, or other old socks.
Close the end
Make eyes, nose with the buttons
Cut a piece of felt for the
tongue,

COLORED ICE BRICKS
Containers:
sand toys, buckets, ice cube trays etc.
food coloring

Fill containers,. with water to make ice bricks
Add a few drops of food coloring  and  leave them outside  to freeze.

When frozen, bring continers in until a thin layer of water forms on top, then take them back  outside and turn upside down
 
Glue bricks together with packed snow

A heart shaped lollipop
Green pipe cleaners

Wrap pipe cleaners around stem of lollipop and give to someone you love

PENCIL LOVE NOTE
Card stock
Pencil
Double side tape
Marker

Wrap a square of card stock around pencil and secure with tape.
Draw a heart and write a message

SNOW SNAKE
 
With large snowballs, make a snow snke.

Line them up in a zig-zag fashion on the ground as long as you want to make it.

Decorate your snake with bits of food, such as raisins, nuts, etc.  These will be good treats for hungry birds and squirrels
